Chapin Newhard

Founder of 48North Partners

Chapin Newhard founded 48North, a buy-side advisory firm established in 2023 to help family-owned and founder-led businesses connect with the right private equity partners. He aims to provide entrepreneurs with clear guidance, whether seeking growth, planning for retirement, or exploring their options.

The concept for 48North was inspired by Chapin’s time at Pine Tree Equity, a private equity firm in Miami that specialized in service businesses. During his time there, Chapin saw firsthand how difficult it could be for business owners, especially those without prior experience in selling, to navigate the process of connecting with potential buyers. Many owners felt overwhelmed by the numerous buyer inquiries and were unsure how to proceed. This experience led Chapin to identify a need in the market for an advisory firm that would act in the business owner's best interest without requiring upfront fees.

In creating 48North, Chapin sought to fill this gap by offering a no-risk, fee-only model for business owners. The firm’s advisory services are provided at no cost to the business owner, with the firm’s fees only being paid by the buyer once a deal is completed. This ensures that business owners are always the focus of the process, with no financial burden during the advisory stage.

48North specializes in various services, including buy-side advisory, capital raising, and succession planning. Through buy-side advisory, the firm helps business owners connect with investors or buyers who align with their long-term goals. By leveraging its strong network of private equity firms, 48North ensures that owners are presented with high-quality options tailored to their needs.

For companies seeking to grow, 48North provides capital-raising services, helping them identify and connect with the right investors. Additionally, the firm offers guidance on succession planning, helping business owners navigate leadership transitions while maintaining their legacy.
